Spring & Summer Activites

Summertime at Sorensen's Resort... Find a shady spot in a hammock under the aspens, roll out on your mountain bike, explore wildflower-filled trails, catch a trout for dinner, or jump in the swimming hole up the road. It's all here at Sorensen's this summer!

Fishing

April to November, the waters of the West Fork of the Carson River, which snakes through the heart of Hope Valley, offer some of the best trout fishing in the Sierra. Sorensen's fills the needs of all levels, with fly-fishing lessons and expert guiding available for all levels. Our gift shop and store is fully outfitted with flies, bait, maps, and books. Fishing licenses are no longer available at Sorensen's. They can be purchased through the California Department of Fish and Game.

Horse Feathers Fly Fishing

Whether you’re a family looking for a fun activity or an experienced fly fisherman who wants to work on your technique, you’ll have a great time spending a day on the river with Horse Feathers Fly Fishing. Come learn the basics or improve your skills with Judy Wickwire and Tom Periano, two of the regions top fly-fishing instructors and guides. Judy has authored two books – both for sale at Sorensen’s – on fly-fishing on the west Fork Carson River, the blue-ribbon fly-fishing waterway that flows through Hope Valley. Tom’s motto is to have fun, be safe and hopefully learn something along the way. For information on this beautiful sport and class reservations or guiding, please call Judy at 530-694-2399.
